The best revenge we can have against d & d is not watching GOT prequels. Make hbo accountable.

I can't believe how many "average" people (no offense meant) have come up with the greatest ideas for S8. The dragon coming from the coverage of nogt/or even water...it makes me want to cry over how obciously it all could have been....and with only the entrails of Georgia R R. Martin's story as the base--that is just how great it ALL was before S8. It literally hurts when I hear all these awesome ways it could have gone. (Sigh)

I've watched a lot of these Season 8 critique videos, but you're the first reviewer to go out of your way to suggest better plot progressions and character moments. Most people have just pointed out the issues with the existing material and left it at that. This video was great!

Re: Daenerys, the character development is all wrong in the last two seasons. One of the main themes of GoT is what makes a person, their family name, or themselves. I'm betting that R.R. Martin told them the end result, and they totally botched the development leading to all that destruction.

Think about it: Daenerys comes to Westeros, they fight her tooth and nail, even though in her mind she's just there to save them from the tyrants that be. She slowly shifts against the population -- unable to comprehend that even the poor aren't the slaves of Essos, and won't accept her 'liberation' -- because of that, she slowly goes mad or a semblance of such, and endeavors to save the citizens of Westeros at any cost, even from themselves. The missing development is exceedingly obvious, especially considering the lack of explanation for her manic behavior at the end. Was it because she was a Targaryen? Or was it circumstance and a previously unknown lust for power?

The reason the ending fits, but the delivery is terrible, is it works with the prior themes of the books and show. People are never what they believe themselves to be (And specifically are not as good as they think). Family determines destiny, or does it? Chaos begets chaos (And violence begets violence) -- a twist on the common Asian theme of 'revenge is all-consuming.'

But D & D hamfisted their garbage through, and failed at writing and character development. Like someone said of Dark Phoenix, "They should have recognized that the plot was beyond their writers, and payed the money for good writers to replace them." We'll probably never know how it was supposed to develop, because it's going to be forever until the next books come out, and R. R. Martin is getting old...

Would it have been better for the story, if Jon's betrayal of dany in the end, had rested on a horrible misunderstanding by Jon, that Dany attacking KL, having Jon thinking she went mad queen, but had infact been a effort to try and burn holes in the ground to release the unleashed energy of wildfire explosions from hidden wf-caches in a possibly reasnoable safe way(upward) instead of being contained by the narrow tunnels, that could lead to the entire city falling Into a wildfire-sinkhole. Not sure if I make sense, if not I apologise.

And when it comes to adapting Game of Thrones, they’re really damn good at it! But when it comes to writing it? No... no. And it’s not their fault GRRM is taking forever to write the book (which I think he’s doing on purpose), but they are still bad writers.

Because there were not any shows really doing the first two to such degree and before this no show pulled off the cgi as good to prove such a fantasy setting could be put on television. The fact that the characters were great was an added bonus. When Game of Thrones was most popular people were literally tuning in to see who lived and who died, what unexpected shocking twist came next.

Daenerys's "concern" for the common people was just for show.

True, not everyone is smart enough to realise that, but you have to be retarded or an evil psychopath/sociopath yourself not to have pegged her as evil after she murdered her husband, Khal Drogo. No one who kills a loved one in a helpless state after being directly responsible for the loved one being in that helpless state, could be anything but evil.

If you are retarded and didn't peg her as evil then, you still had an opportunity to realise that when she burns the Khals alive much later. She was their captive and would have had very unpleasant consequences if she remained captive, but after Jorah and Daario showed up, she had a means of escaping the captivity, which she refused. She burns the Khals alive, take all horses and Dothraki men who rap e, pillage, and ruthlessly murder non-combatants including children, leaving behind the Dothraki women and children with no means of survival or defence. The _only_ person that decision could have good consequences for was Daenerys. The Dothraki women and children she left behind would starve and die or be enslaved by some others. The places she would invade with the Dothraki will see non-conbatants, including children, killed and women raped. But Daenerys will gain power over the cities she invades.

The reason this cunning evil psychopath had hit upon "ending slavery" Mantra was to retain the loyalty of the Unsullied she declared were "free". She couldn't sail to Westeros just then. She needed her dragons to grow, which would take years. Until then she was stuck in Essos. If the "free" Unsullied decide to exercise their "freedom" before then, she would be back to square one, trying to raise an army.

I do agree most retards had no clue Daenerys was going to do what she did, even though she _planned_ to _start_ the massacre _after_ the city surrendered and did everything possible to ensure the city surrendered and hinted at _why_ she was going to do that, all in the first half of episode 5 and _none_ of it had anything to do with Rhegal, Missandai or Varys. But the problem is there is no way to let retards be prepared for it, without ruining the character of a brilliantly constructed Machiavellian evil psychopath. D&D just couldn't ruin the character, so they had to let you retards down. Instead they chose to ruin other characters.

Daenerys is a psychopath who believes others live at her mercy. This is exemplified by her offer to the masters of Yunkai in the clip in this video when she offers to "gift" them their lives. She bestows that "gift" as long as others are useful to her alive in some fashion. If they are _not_ useful to her alive, but useful to her dead, she has no problem killing them even when they are those she _loves_ . What kind of a retard would expect her to care about the lives of people who she knows won't love her even when she tries to actively help them (although completely ineffective) as she realised in the North?

Based on the number of losses D&D had her take she would have had to turn back to head east. Leaving the Northern rebels to their fate. Dany & her armies would have had to wage a war just to get ships to return to Essos. They killed off over half her armies, she lost most of her dragons & lost all of her friends and advisors. She took a ruthless beating BEFORE the war ever started. Just like Stannis. People wanted her to take so many losses til she would be unable to wage war at all. That in itself, would have made bringing her across the sea a massive disappointment. We only saw the Iron born getting annihilated. We then saw High Garden massacred. Then the told us the Dornish were slaughtered off screen. At no point were the dragons world threatening & lethal. Two of them died easily.
