For all these people who say it was rushed. I disagree a bit. I only just watched season 7 and then straight into 8, and if you watch it as one season, it pretty much all works. I think a lot of people have forgotten some stuff from previous seasons

They needed seasons 7 and 8 to follow the 10 episode formula as well. GoT was always a slow build with character development and action. They are just cramming both into these last episodes...from Rhaegel's stupid, rushed death to The Long Night.

DD little fingered RR over things like lady stone heart, RR did a Bran and shut down remote viewing, so DD said they could finish the saga without RR and his direction then wound up dragging their balls across all of seasons 6 & 7 fans rose up exposing DD sucked without source material, causing DD to do a Danenry's on the entire GOT Fan Base with season 8 by decimating everything they knew the fans was hoping for ie.... dogging out Ghost making sure Jon didn't even stand near the tiny wolf citing CGI issues, but made sure to show Ghost with Giant's Bain (Thormond) closer thanthis when saying good bye to Jon.... this whole season was a big fook you to the Fans that called them out 2 season ago... 7 Hells!!! HBO should've sued DD and probably RR too...Valar Morghulis should mean... all built up shows must die or since everyone got paid off but the fans Valar Dohaeris should be mean ... all fans must serve.... so much for suspending belief or is it disbelief????

As is; Jon will fight Grey, wins, dying will kill Dany. The Stag will be King w/ Stark Wife. IF!? Dany gets off D crying Her eyes out and Jon takes Her in His arms. They will be married and rule together, Fire and Ice. He should have slept with Her before the battle(?), She would have been much calmer at the right time. Lol

So, in retrospective hindsight was the problem not enough episodes in the last two series, or the flabbiness of some of the screenwriting in seasons 5 and 6?
And the mere fact that this season has required so much interpretative clarification and justification one way or the other (as here) is an indication that the writing of the screenplay has lacked internal logic. Perhaps the finale will tie off the plot, but the sense that a complex, interweaving set of story arcs are related and included because they contribute to that plot has largely been lost. Reduced to simple events.
And the proposal to take this episode “on its own” in order to value it disregards and contradicts exactly what we have valued; a multiple-stranded story arc powered by central themes. We’ll need to ask ourselves if those themes of redemption, absolute power, the brutal nature of politics, and above all the importance of hope still seem served after the finale.

HBO EVEN OFFERED Dave Weiss and Benioff more money to do more episodes and they turned it down. I bet they'll regret that as they look back on their legacy.

One question... Was verys actually trying to poison Danny? When I re-watched the episode it struck me that his interaction with his "little bird" was pointing in that direction..

The largest foreshadowing that this disaster was coming was the Dorne plot... that was D&D unleashed to write their own plotline .. the second they GRRM's books ran dry we knew shitstorm of horrific writing was brewing.

This entire season has been rushed, so many decisions and moments make no sense Complete 180's by key characters without any/enough explanation. Military and tactical blunders by so called veteran commanders and just a myriad of bad one liners and cheap short cuts.

Rushed And crazy it was and I agree 2 more episodes would be much better to allow character development. . It doesn't make sense? Breaker of chains killing all the innocents with no need to do so. Re: Jaime, what I saw is that he experienced LOVE for first time w Brienne. He knew he wanted to take that to Cersei. And that's what I saw at last scene. If Cersei was able to experience that type of love in her life she probably wouldn't have turned into the bitch she was . But it was always selfishness--- what is in for me? --- except for her with her chidren. It was the first step for healing with Jaime, then she died...

Danny's sense of justice only came from the fact that it made people love her. When she lost love she lost any concern for mercy. People reeeeeally don't want to see that. She was not motivated by true inner morals, she was motivated to better the world because she thought that would be her key to being loved. When it becomes apparent that all her mercy won't bring enough love to overcome the fear of her she decides to give into her worst impulse.

I agree that there is a problem in Tyrion's character development. He's painted out to be smart and understanding people but he doesn't understand Cersei first, then Daenerys, doesn't trust Varys, I mean that's a lot of mistakes for someone who is smart... The empathy doesn't explain it all for me.

None of it made sense given the timeframe and the reality is is that we only had 6 episodes. Saying that it would of been ok with more time doesnt change the fact that it was such a leap of faith. In fact almost everything that happened in this episode felt like it required massive leap of faith to believe. No, im sorry. Just no. Madness. Absolute madness.

I disagree. That was so out of character for Dany. Never in her past was it hinted that she would murder innocent people (women and children). Her enemies: Yes, but never innocents. This was yet another "let's change our minds" move by D.D. similar to what they did to the Night King debacle.

After binge watching I was able to recall how she always impulsive but she listened to her right hand advisors, who always guided her to the right decisions. They were always the sensible ones. This season she was at the point where she couldn't trust anyone, riding high on emotions from the rejection of John, combined with coming so far to what she perceive as he destiny. It was out of rage and impulse as well as the threat of losing what was hers that made her destroy the kingdom. I didn't expect her and Cerci to fight because Cerci was always behind the scenes. It would've been nice to see the dragon coming straight towards Red Keep breathing fire whilst Cerci stood there looking out.

They've essentially condensed her future development in The Winds of Winter and A Dream Of Spring into two episodes. Which is freaking nuts when you think about it. That's two 1000+ page books. At the end of the last book she has decided to embrace the dark side of herself and I think her spiral to darkness will play out better in print.

The most satisfying moments for me were when The Hound turns Arya back from killing Cersei, The mountain squashing Qyburn like a bug, and Grey Worms blood lust, all very understandable to me.

It is a honest review, I also tought Cersei and Jaimie going out like that was the best way to end their arc. Tyrion never been the smartest guy out there, he has a sharp tongue and is good at convincing others, in the last 2 season he is just trying to keep Daenarys from going nuts I feel like he dosent make good decisions also because he is in a weird situation where even he is the hand, she dosent let him so much freedom regarding decisions making. And he is not telling us but he's been scared of her for a while now. And he is not drinking and whoring so his mind is confuse.

She's had a streak of ruthlessness and an 'eye for eye' justice, but everything she did up to this point was directed at specific enemies without involving innocents. This is came out of nowhere - it could have been written far better than it has and this season has been more about the spectacle than making the character development make any sense.
